Sultanas are the original Turkish dried white grape – specifically the dried Thompson Seedless grape, which originated in the part of Turkey that lies on the Asian continent. In the US, they’re often not differentiated from raisins (and are even named as such), despite the fact that they are a different variety of grape which, in its dried form, is plumper, sweeter and juicier than a raisin.
PURE, PREMIUM PRODUCT:Hatton Hill Organic’s sun-dried sultanas are grown in their native Turkey before being carefully harvested, dried in the country’s abundant sunshine, and promptly packed to seal in their distinctively sweet, fruity flavour.
USES:Sun-dried sultanas are a wonderfully honey-sweet, healthy snack straight out of the bag, and also a terrific addition to breakfast cereals, trail mix, baked goods such as cakes, bread, muffins and pastries, and a range of savoury dishes, where their sweetness really brings other flavours such as spices and curry to life. Try sprinkling them into salads and rice dishes, scattering them into dals and other South Asian cooking, or making chutneys or chocolates with them. Yum!
